As everyone was hustling around this morning getting ready for school I over heard this conversation of Sean and D. - D. was asking for help zipping up is backpack, because his Show and Tell was under his lunch making quite the bulky bag, and D. asked Sean what he was taking for Show and Tell today. = ) Sean had to sadly explain that he doesn't have Show and Tell at his school (can you imagine a bunch of masters students standing around doing Show and Tell) . Anyway D. asked why- and Sean at a loss of words said, that he had lots of other stuff to do at school so there wasn't time for Show and Tell. I couldn't help but smile, what a cute kid, and what a cute hubby! So I say dads school must be pretty boring, and Z. said are we going to look for a new school for daddy! I just got such a kick out of my BIG 4.5 year old and 3.5 year old.

Awesome Dude!
My D. has started something new lately- "awesome dude!" I went to the grocery store and filled the fridge up with food, and D. informed me that the fridge was now "awesome dude!" WHAT? Who has a 4 1/2 year old that says "awesome dude!" after each sentence. I made one eye sandwiches for breakfast this morning (something my dad use to do all the time) and I got an "awesome dude!" At church D. got to help me put up the hymn numbers and I got an "awesome dude!" We washed all the laundry on Saturday, and that received a, you guessed it "awesome dude!" Honestly I must be the totally most awesome dude (translation: Mom) in the entire world, I hear it all the time now!
What in the world he is only 4 1/2, what am I going to do with him!

I Really Lived!
I found this on Sean's cousins blog today, thanks Michelle!
"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails. I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp. I want to be there with a smudge of peanut better on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbors children. I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden. I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder. I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."

Ballerina
We are raising a ballerina! A few weeks ago Z. started her Baby Ballet class. I am so proud of her, she is a good practicer! Like at church, at Walmart, in the car, in bed, basically every where she goes she is practicing. She loves to dance, and with a little help does a great job. But that is not why I am so proud of her- she is a good listener. She holds still and goes where the teacher wants her to go, she participates and loves every second of it! This is Z. with her friend A. after ballet class. ( I know all of you will die- check out the blue sky and sunshine- it is like a permanent thing here!)
So you might think - Hey she found her camera, but no, I had to steal this picture from my friend Tami's blog.

Not Bonkers!
So if any of you where wondering (like my sister)- I have not gone bonkers! And YES I am drinking enough water (all I do is pee these days- oh wait I'm preg ). I was talking about remembering our blessings! I think we get so caught up in running to Preschool, groceries, babies with booger noses, moping, and LAUNDRY- that we forget how great our lives are! We are all so blessed! So maybe we should all remember how blessed we really are! Life is good, we have food in our fridge, clothes on our backs and a washing machine to wash them in, and I have not gone bonkers!
Oh- and by the way did you know when your preg your brain actually shrinks! (True, Dr. Oz says so 8% click HERE for the article) So if I do go bonkers, now you know why!

Remembering?
I always thought I had such a great memory- but lately I am realizing that my memory is not serving me so well! I mean how could l forget these things so easily.
You know when ever Sean forgets something he has this great excuse- has he used it on you? "Um.. you know I was in a car accident 6 years ago, so" with a smile on his face. Like you can come back from that one, you just turn and walk away like a dog with your tail between you legs.
Anyway- back to forgetting some of the most important things in my life, really am I turning into some old lady? Honestly I am only 26, my mind should be as sharp as a tack (it's more like a tack that has been run over by a car). Guess is this how it is to be old? Some of you are forgetting these exact same things, and you don't even know it! Not that I am calling my of you old-Really! Did you figure it out?

Like Pulling Teeth!
Seriously this morning has been a disaster! First of all we have a little someone in our house who likes to hide all of the electronic things- cell phone charger, camera, Sean's shaver was MIA but has been located. So if you are wondering why I have not post pics lately- it is because we are playing hide-and-go-seek with my camera (this is definitely the most expensive game of hide-and-go-seek I have ever played). Anyway- D. did not want to get ready to go to preschool, Z. did not want to get ready for ballet, but then she didn't want to be late! UGGG! Seriously where is that BIG tub of Candy Corn- I know it's only 11:30 but on a day like today candy corn munching starts early!
Looking....
Still looking.....
Ohh yea, much better- a little sugar and after all it is Friday and I get to go on a date with this really hot guy tonight! Take a nice deep breath, the beds are made, the kitchen is clean, and the wash is going, and I'm eating candy corn- wait a minute this day has been great! Hope you have a great day too.

Holy Swear Words!
Apparently the swear words are flying at our house. A few weeks ago while Z. was in the tub I heard her mumble something under her breath so I said, "What are you saying Z. ?" and she said the D word followed by an "it". WHAT? So I follow up with a- "who did you hear say that?" She went on to tell on a kid from preschool. We followed up with the whole yucky word thing, and Jesus doesn't want us to say those yucky words, we practiced asking the friend at preschool to not use yucky words........ This morning I hear her washing her face and using the same yucky word. WHAT! Seriously how many 3 year olds run around using the D word- well apparently more then I know (because mine is one of them).
So to all wiser mothers, what do I do now? My mom always threatened to wash our mouths out with soap- I don't think I have ever tasted soap. Anyway any ideas?

We don't live in Utah anymore- kiddies!
I live in Glendale, so why am I surprised by this post? Well, I use to live in Utah- you know the most police action you get is the police herding cows off the freeway! =) On the way to preschool this morning, we were driving along with our windows down (cause it is just beautiful here) and we stop at a stop light- totally minding our own business when I hear a male voice yelling, "put your hand up where I can see them, and step out of the truck-NOW!" I look across the street and there are two officers with their guns pulled pointing them at a truck they had stopped on the opposite side of the road. First of all, AHHHH I almost peed my pants- there I am 30 feet away with 3 kids in my car and the windows down, just heading to preschool. What would you do? I start praying that the light will change and we can get out of there! I slowing rolled the windows up- as quietly as possible (they are automatic windows like I have any control-but I tried). And I keep thinking that guy in the truck better not do anything stupid and get shot with my kids watching the entire thing- that would take some therapy I think! I start singing a song so my kids don't hear/see what is going on (nice try). So the light changes and I am out of there- like a bat out of heck (as my dad would put it). The good news is we are all OK! I think if anyone needs therapy it might be me! We don't live in Utah anymore- kiddies!

6th Anniversary of our accident
I can hardly believe that it has been 6 years since our car accident. You might be thinking why would we celebrate our car accident? I celebrate our accident because 6 years ago it was not Sean's time to go- I got to marry him in the temple and I am sealed to him FOREVER! How lucky am I! I celebrate because it made my husband a better man- I watched for years as he struggled with the aftermath, and it made him a better man. I celebrate because both of our testimonies are clearer, vibrant, alive. I celebrate because this trial made our marriage strong. I celebrate because 3 years ago to the day- all the side effects/aftermath of the accident were taken from our family in our own miracle. We have every reason to celebrate and testify of our Savior and the AMAZING miracles that happen when you have faith in him! So HAPPY 6th ANNIVERSARY!
Go hug your husband tighter, thank your heavenly father that you are sealed together, love him with all of your heart! I will to mine!

Marriage & Helping Texas
Let me get on my soap box for one moment please. (clunk, clunk) OK- I'm ready are you?
This one is for my family! No really it is!
There are currently 5 states (that I know) who are voting on making the definition of marriage between a man and a women. I know for sure some of those states are California, Arizona, and Florida. You may say, I don't understand it, isn't there something in place that already protects marriage to be between a man and a woman, and there IS! But if it is not in the states constitution judges (like what happened in California) can over turn that previous decision. So we have now been asked to vote to make the definition of marriage between a man and a woman part of our states constitutions. This current vote, is HUGE- the vote in California alone will determine how some future states will vote. I also think that those who read my blog understand the importance of this vote and event that is going on in our country. Please show support and get out and vote.
Please help Texas! My sweet sister-in-law grew up in Texas, and her family has be hit HARD by the Hurricane Ike. Most of her family in the area lost EVERYTHING not just some damage, everything that they own is destroyed. I can't imagine having to start all the way over! Dani is trying to do anything she can to help not only her family but the families of other who have been affected. She is putting together care packages, to bring a bright spot to those who receive them. She is also asking people to adopt a family and help in any way you can. Dani has also set up a donation link on her blog, even just a $1.00 would help! We are so blessed to have as much as we do, and sometimes I forget that there are people who are really struggling! You can find out all about what you can do, or to donate go here.
I can't remember who said this at General Conference, but someone said the best thing you can do to help someone during a devastating time is pray and listen to what the Lord tells you to do. I loved that!

Sleepy Ear?!
Last night I had the most horrible thing happen, while I was asleep my ear "fell asleep". Has this every happened to you? I must have been cutting off the circulation (is there circulation in your top of your ear?) in my right ear, and it hurt like crazy! So I had to wake up and move, and then it took like 10 minutes for my ear to stop hurting. Anyway- so I was telling Sean about it and asked him if it had ever happened to him and he just looked at me like I was crazy. So I guess I am looking for some support here! I 'm not crazy, and someone else's ear must have fallen asleep before! RIGHT? Calling all sleepy ears!
EKKK- I am finally getting my much needed hair cut! Wahoo! Sean always makes fun of me for getting dressed up to go get my hair done. I didn't know how to explain that there was something to dressing up. Now I figured it out- I believe by dressing up I communicate that I care about the way I look, and I think makes the stylist take better care and do a better job. I could go in PJ's, but then they would think just anything was better then before. Right? I think I finally hit this one on the head! So now, I will say to Sean by dressing up I get more for my money! He'll love that! Just a few more hours till, pump up chairs, hair bleach, capes, blow dryers, I can hardly wait! (Can you tell I need a hair cut BAD?) Tuesday, October 7, 2008
My New Culinary Discovery
Last night I was making "World's Best Lasagna" for dinner, when I went to reach for my crushed tomatoes, and found them MIA. So I hopped on the internet and searched for a suitable substitute- did you know that you should really make your own diced and crushed tomatoes? Yes, I know EVERY thing I read said to use your canned whole tomatoes (which are cheaper by the way) and simply dice or crush them. My first thought was "GREAT- I'll just put on my pioneer skirt and turn my own butter while I'm at it." Then I went on to read that by using whole tomatoes they are not processed nearly as much (better nutrition), they are the best value, and instead of getting a whole can of seeds left over from the bottom of the batch you get tomatoes (which is the goal here). Anyway- I thought it would be hard -WHAT?- then I remember that the General YW President told me "I can do hard things". And let's face it, it really was not that hard at all. For diced tomatoes they said just use you hands and break them up a bit, for crushed tomatoes I just used my potato masher! EASY!! I couldn't taste a difference- and my family was getting better nutrition- and I didn't even have to put on my pioneer skirt!

Conference Edition
What an incredible weekend, I was so touched and inspired by conference. I loved sharing an old family tradition my family did when I was little, with my little family. We made a BIG breakfast, and shared it while we listed to the first session. It was perfect, my D. just loved it, and went back and filled his plate twice (he must have hit a growth spurt). I loved watching him be so excited, and happy- in fact this morning he said he wanted me to make a "BIG yummy breakfast that takes a long time". I can only do a breakfast production a few times a year, so I told him on birthdays and conference I will every time.
JustRandi hosted a contest over the weekend for that perfect vinyl lettering quote from the LDS General Conference, go check out all the quotes, there are some great ones. Personally my absolute favorite quote (a little too big for a board, but still my fav.) was, "Be aware that the tiny fingerprints that show up on almost every newly cleaned surface, the toys scattered about the house, the piles and piles of laundry to be tackled, will disappear all too soon... and that you will, to your surprise, miss them profoundly." President Thomas S. Monson I just burst out crying, because he really does understand my life!!

In that same Sunday Morning session he said,
"Find joy in the journey- NOW!"
"You pile up tomorrows and you'll find you have a lot of empty yesterdays."
"Make the most of today, the here and now!"
"Whatever God has blessed you with, take it!"
"His (Christ) life is a legacy of love."
"Let us follow him (Christ)."
