It's a Boy!

Yesterday we had our ultrasound and we got a "I really think it's a boy", but he is sitting indian style in me, so she didn't give me a 100%, but she was pretty sure! We are so excited to have another part of our family coming! Nothing is better then being  a mom, I am so grateful for these little souls! We are taking NAME IDEAS- so give us your best boy names.

Grandpa's Famous Scones

One of my fondest memories is when we (the kids in the Worthington family) would go out to play in the snow, and we would come home to warm scones (courtesy of Grandpa Gary) and Hot Cocoa (courtesy of Grandma Colleen).
Not only did it fill or bellies, but it warmed our hearts! Today I shared this tradition with my kids. They LOVED them! The only thing missing was Grandpa Gary and Grandma Colleen! Oh- and I loved the fact that it was 70 outside and this tradition still warmed my heart!

Soup Bowls & Love

I have really been enjoying this time that I have had with all of our little family. I am so grateful for my children and the happiness and joy they bring to our house! Z. has been on a CUTE roll this week- here are some of the things she has said.

We were on our way down to see the Temple lights, and she yells, YELLS from the back seat "HERE COMES THE SOUP BOWL!!" (She was talking about the spaghetti bowl (you know where all the major freeways cross). And then Z. continues with "D. lets take a big bite!" After I corrected what kind of bowl was coming, we all took a bite of Mom's favorite food (spaghetti)!

Z. and I were shopping last night, she is a SUPER helper to her mom, and she only asks for a treat like 100 times. Anyway- as we were looking for Molasses (where is the world of Wal Mart is the Molasses!) she says "Mom, will you still love me when I'm big?" The other mom on the isle burst out into tears (she had just had a baby), "that is the cutest thing I have ever heard!" I followed up with big tears in my eyes, "of course I will love you, of course I will love you!"

Finishing the shopping trip we had to venture over somewhere remotely near the toy section (which is scary this time of year) and Z. just held onto the cart and sang loudly "Santa Clause is coming to town!" I think she has done a great job of reminding me about what Christmas is! When we leave anywhere she says "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays" with a BIG smile.  She is such a sweetheart!

Eventful Trip!

The youth in our ward headed down to the Mesa Temple to see the light last night, Sean's with the Priest, and we thought we would make it a family trip. So, I was driving- and thought I remembered exactly how to get there. But I didn't remember as well as I thought I did! I was just one block off, but one block off doesn't get you there! So after thinking I was so smart- till we drove about as far down into Mesa as we should have, I admitted that things were not looking so familiar.
So the GPS came out- didn't really work, but it was a nice hood ornament! I finally call information on my cell, and the address came back 525 E Nain (should have been MAIN). REALLY! Everything in the universe was trying to keep us from being on time! So, we finally came to the conclusion that being late was just part of the plan. So who knows why, but we did finally make it to see the Temple lights. Beautiful!! I loved the palm trees all lit up, the camels and wise men coming across the north lawn were amazing! And a pretty cute "old people" choir were singing on the stage. It was fun, the kids favorite part was the floating "bubbles" on the water. It really did remind me of a piece of Utah, except for there was no snow (I'm great with that), and I'll take lit palm trees any day!

We Cry Over Spilt Milk!

Apparently we cry over spilt milk at our house, but only if it gets on our "most favoritest jammies in the world, from Grandma"! I get it, there really isn't much worse then your favorite jammies wet. But man, I really didn't know that milk was the END of the world.

ME, Well I really try not to cry over spilt milk, but man, the floor just got mopped!

Holy FUDGE, That Was Easy!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas (RAIN), and I'm starting to feel like I just might get to make treats and fun things till Christmas! Yesterday we made FUDGE! I have always put off making fudge cause I thought it was way too hard and time consuming. WRONG! Here is a simple recipe, that tastes GREAT!  It really is as easy as it sounds! I did need an extra pair of big hands when it came to pouring the fudge out. We made our fudge with milk chocolate and added coconut in one and reese cup pieces in the other. YUMMY!
    INGREDIENTS
  • 3 cups semisweet, or milk, or dark chocolate pieces
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 cup coconut, or reese cup pieces, or walnuts (optional)

DIRECTIONS

  1. Place chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter or margarine in large sauce pan, over low heat.  Heat stirring constantly until chips are melted, about 5 minute. Stir in your choice of add on, if desired.
  2. Pour into well-greased 8x8-inch glass baking dish. Refrigerate until set.

Yummy Penguins

If I had it my way, the weeks leading up to Christmas all I would do is bake and make fun things with my kids (that would be in the perfect world). Last night the kids and I made these super cute "stuffed" penguins. I love these, because although I LOVE treats, this seems like these have some kind of nutrition.  My kids just love these cute little guys, I stuff the olives and cut the carrots, and get all the pieces ready, then let the kids put them together.

Cream Cheese Penguins
 INGREDIENTS
  • 18 jumbo black olives, pitted
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 18 small black olives
  • 1 carrot

DIRECTIONS

  1. Cut a slit from top to bottom, lengthwise, into the side of each jumbo olive. Carefully insert about 1 teaspoon of cream cheese into each olive. Slice the carrot into eighteen 1/4 inch thick rounds; cut a small notch out of each carrot slice to form feet. Save the cut out piece and press into center of small olive to form the beak. If necessary cut a small slit into each olive before inserting the beak.
  2. Set a big olive, large hole side down, onto a carrot slice. Then, set a small olive onto the large olive, adjusting so that the beak, cream cheese chest and notch in the carrot slice line up. Secure with a toothpick.

Christmas Performance

Today Z. and D.'s preschool classes got to sing at the High School Christmas Assembly. First of all, how cute are they!

They sang "I saw Mommy kissing Santa", "Must be Santa", and "Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer".
The high school kids were GREAT, and cheered and yelled for them. I love that they got up on the big stage and performed! I was so proud of them!

Z's Cute Picture

Another photo courtesy of Tami, taken while my camera was "lost". This is at Z's dance performance, with her friend A. What cute little girls!

What are they thinking!

I have quickly come to the conclusion that lack of snow leads people of AZ to do some pretty CRAZY things!
It's bad, and it's like every other house here. I don't know if it's because all the old people move here, and like the guy at WalMart said today, "I have all too much time on my hands!" Or if the lack of snow leads people to spend countless hours trying to see how many lights they can get on the house! I mean, the weathers nice, lets throw some more lights on that house. Honestly, I wonder what they are thinking?!

A's new girlfriend!

I don't know what the deal is, but every time I turn on the vacuum A. comes a crawlin! He loves the vacuum! My other kids were all terrified of the vacuum, but not A. he crawls right towards it, like he's playing a game or something. The other kids sit and scream at me cause they think that A. is going to get sucked up the vacuum, but he just giggles and giggles.  I mean it use to be cute, and ha ha- but now I literally have to run while I am vacuuming to stay ahead of him. I don't get what he's trying to do, but he thinks it's a blast! I mean, I love my Oreck, but not as much as A. does.

Really!

So last night I was in the kitchen making some dinner and overheard this conversation. D. and Z. were in the front room reenacting the Nativity scene and apparently I have been doing it wrong all these years.

Z. as Mary "I'm gonna leave."
D. as "Shepherd" (Joseph) "Mary never leaves!"
D. "Guess who rides the donkey..... Mary!"
Z. "I think I need to write this down!"
D. "I think I'm gonna ride the donkey too."
Z. to her mom " I'm Mary and he's my guy!"
Z. to D. "I'll just carry my donkey."

Kids are so cute!

I'm the Airhead!

So yesterday after a series of events I labeled myself the biggest AIRHEAD in the world. Now this morning, I have just confirmed my diagnosis! I, I repeat ME- I was the one who hid the camera, and now it has been found. So all my complaining about my children, and all the hours of making THEM search for the camera have come back to bite me in the booty! Sorry kids! I think maybe an ice cream cone (I know, it's December but it's still 80 down here) can make up for being the worlds biggest AIRHEAD of a Mother! And maybe I'll buy myself an Airhead and I'll feel better too! So the good news is that there are many pictures to follow!

Not so Sympathetic!

Turkey Day was GREAT! It was so fun for Sean to go play football in the morning, and not FREEZE his booty off. He came home and said that was as much fun as he has had in a long time. Great what does that say for me, I must not be that entertaining! (NO, I'm kidding) Since both of us are without family here, we had some friends in the ward invite us to do Thanksgiving with them (even if we are Y fans). We had a great time- and I'll just wait for her to post pictures on her blog, and steal them from her again! Thanks Tami! The best part was the 5 pies for 4 adults and a bunch of kids, we could have swam in pie if we wanted to. It was a great time!

A. is growing up so so fast! Today I was changing his diaper, and had him on my kitchen counter, and he started to pee, so I threw a bunch of paper towels over him and he just laughed and giggled- sure real funny! But I couldn't help but laugh at my giggle pee baby!

Apparently I am not so sympathetic - because Z. found her giraffe from preschool and the head had been ripped off, and I thought it was funny and started to laugh. And I got a dirty look and a "Mom, it's snot funny!" and she stomped off into the other room. Man, I'm such a bad mom! I didn't know that giraffe was her "favorite in the whole world" and that life was now not going to go on. What would we do with our our drama queen (and I was talking about Z!)
