Holy Swear Words!

Apparently the swear words are flying at our house. A few weeks ago while Z. was in the tub I heard her mumble something under her breath so I said, "What are you saying Z. ?" and she said the D word followed by an "it". WHAT? So I follow up with a- "who did you hear say that?" She went on to tell on a kid from preschool. We followed up with the whole yucky word thing, and Jesus doesn't want us to say those yucky words, we practiced asking the friend at preschool to not use yucky words........ This morning I hear her washing her face and using the same yucky word. WHAT! Seriously how many 3 year olds run around using the D word- well apparently more then I know (because mine is one of them).

So to all wiser mothers, what do I do now? My mom always threatened to wash our mouths out with soap- I don't think I have ever tasted soap. Anyway any ideas?

Soap doesnt taste too good but its a heck of a lot better than hot sauce (can you tell I got quite a bit of it as a kid -- My mom still threatens to wash my mouth out due to my lovely swearing habit). I dont know what to tell you. I think talking about why we dont etc is important but I also think its good to ignore it if she is doing it as an attention seeking thing (thats where my cursing came from). Good luck! Just dont let her teach Aliya -- I'd probably laugh so hard hearing her curse (especially the word Z knows since its my favorite) that she'd think its funny and keep doing it.

My 10 year old wanted me to take him out of school because there were kids using horrible words. We had a talk with uncle Curtis who grew up near Chicago he told M. that he had to be strong and not bend to the peer pressure to also say those things, I can't remember if it was him or someone else who said to make up a new secret word with those friends that they could say that would replace that word and only they knew when to use it and how to say it. He talked to those friends--brave kid! They choose snogenburger--they would all laugh and all the teachers and other kids wanted to know what it meant--a different way of getting attention--ny the end of the year they had a whole list of funny words they would use.

Anyway, my point is that no matter how old we are there will be situations like that--so sorry it had to start with adorable Z so early! I love to tell my kids that they are superheros they have the power to change the world and Heavenly Father knew their super powers so he knew they could change this situation! Super Z!

Love ya! Send some sunshine our way would you! It's -4 right now--so early in the Year ARRRGGGHHH!

I feel you pain Stock has been doing the same thing. I have had the talk with him twice now and I hope that it has helped because he hasn't said anything in a few days. But if it happens again I will resort to hot sauce or soap. It worked when my mom used it on me. Good Luck!!

There are a few in our family that have tasted soap.
